Jet Lag
We left Kigali at 4:00 PM—10:00 AM Richmond time—and arrived home a mere 27 hours later. One of my observations is that 21 hours is way too long to sit in an airplane seat.

WatchOur last night in Kigali, I went down to check on our airport shuttle and heard the band playing on the patio. I managed to catch the last song of the evening—”The City of New Orleans” with an African beat, sung in French.

The P.E.A.C.E. Plan
Someone gave Rwandan President Paul Kagame a copy of The Purpose Driven Life several years ago. After reading it, President Kagame invited Rick Warren to visit Rwanda and asked him to consider helping Rwanda to become a purpose driven country. The P.E.A.C.E. Plan emerged as Rick was prayerfully considering the offer.

Sunset
It gets dark here just after 6:00 PM. And I mean really dark. Really, really dark. We are below the equator and it is winter here. The weather has been pleasant (low 80s at midday, high 50s at night) and dry. Our hotel does not have air conditioning, but we haven’t needed it—our fan keeps us comfortable.
